Here are some of the projects the Westside Community Council has been involved with.
Kellogg Park
In partnership with Ventura’s Parks and Recreation, local businesses and nonprofits, the Westside Community Council was instrumental in bringing Kellogg Park to the Westside.
Portland Loo project
In a partnership with Ventura’s Parks, Recreation and Community Partnerships, the WCC raised over $10,000 for the Westside’s new Kellogg Park to be installed.
VENTURA AVENUE TREE PROJECT
Lead by WCC Board Members James Forsythe and Gerardo Gallegos, the Ventura Avenue Tree Project was a community based and funded program to plant 21 Cassia leptophyllas or “Gold Medallions” along the Avenue corridor.
COVID-19 PPE Equipment donation project
During the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, the Westside Community Council collected over 250 N95 masks and eye protective goggles that were donated to the Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, CA .
COVID-19 Westside SChool Supplies project
The Westside Community Council collected donations from around the city and purchased school supplies for Sheridan Way Elementary students during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to provide school supplies to over 100 families.
